The Robert M. Rodrigues Fund “Good Citizen” Award

Evidence of Responsible Actions Taken

Evidence of leadership in a non-titled role: You saw a school or community need and you did it because it was the right thing to do with no expectation of recognition or reward.  (For example, you stepped up in class when there was a substitute teacher and helped her understand the teacher’s plans, volunteered to help conduct races for young kids during a community day event, etc.)

Evidence of character: You exhibit evidence of the “Six Pillars of Character” – Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.  (For example, you do not cheat or use bad language. You persevere, are open-minded, kind, and cooperative.)  Applicant should have no behavior referrals, suspensions or detentions, ILC for cuts or tardies in your high school career – this is expected behavior of a leader.  But note: it is acceptable if applicant made some errors early in their high school career (first three semesters) and has turned around in the last four-plus semesters.

Evidence of a formal plan for post-graduation: It could be college, a technical school, the workplace, the armed services, starting an entrepreneurial business or something else that is gainful and productive.
