About Robert M. Rodrigues
Since 1974, Robert M. Rodrigues has inspired Chartiers Valley High School (CHVS) students with his unique candor, compassion, and teaching style.
“Mr. Rod”, as his students affectionately call him, turns history lessons into life lessons that students carry with them into adulthood. Through innovative assignments and opportunities, Mr. Rod connects students to community leaders, business executives, and veterans who provide firsthand knowledge of historical events while imparting leadership principles.
Whether teaching students to write a college-level paper, speaking in public, or analyzing the impact of the Vietnam War, Mr. Rod motivates and empowers CVHS students with his enthusiasm and creativity. Students retain life lessons learned in his classes, field trips, and expert panels. His commitment to producing future leaders for the betterment of the community is as steadfast as when he first began teaching in 1969.
About the Fund
In the fall of 2011, a group of former students came together to establish the Robert M. Rodrigues Fund. The mission of the fund is to further Mr. Rod’ s work and legacy – now and into the future – through an annual scholarship award and a community grant. The fund provides a $1,000 award to a graduating senior for their post-high school plans. The fund’s immediate goal is to raise $10,000. Upon reaching that goal, The Robert M. Rodrigues Fund will begin to make two annual awards: An annual scholarship to a Chartiers Valley graduate and funding for a community project dedicated to improving the quality of life of Chartiers Valley residents.
The Robert M. Rodrigues Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN: 47-3241762) dedicated to supporting Chartiers Valley High School (CVHS) students through access to college and post-secondary education, as well as empowering them to make a difference in the CVHS community. We invite you to make a contribution to The Robert M. Rodrigues Fund, and help us recognize a one-of-a-kind teacher by supporting his vision of creating a better future for Chartiers Valley.
